We continue on with Rebecca’s fabulous experience onboard Holland America Line’s Noordam cruise Hobart to Sydney – this week it is all about the entertainment and the delicious food and drinks.
Cruising is my favourite way to holiday. I loved my time on board the Noordam and especially enjoyed the delicious taste of what Holland American Line has in store for those who select cruising as their holiday of choice. The food was on board was superb, we sampled lots!
The Vista Dining Room is the two-level main dining room offering a choice of Anytime Dining. Guests can sit with different passengers each evening or you can choose Traditional Dining where you make friends with the wait staff and they welcome you back each evening whether it’s early or late.
The Lido Market is the casual dining option offering a wide and varied selection of fresh cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At lunch time the added burger and taco bars are open on the deck next to the pool.
Noordam features two specialty restaurants – Canaletto offers guests authentic Italian cuisine and the Pinnacle Grill is the ultimate in refined and luxurious dining. A small surcharge applies for both.
There are 10 lounges and bars scattered throughout the ship and purely for research purposes we managed to sample them all. We made our way through the entire cocktail list thanks to the two happy hours put on each day. My favourite lounge was the Crow’s Nest. Located on the top deck at the very front of the ship it has expansive ocean views. The Martini Bar in the main lobby is a great spot to sample all of your favourite martinis and to try some new ones, we did that too!
The Vista Lounge is a generous show lounge spanning four decks in the forward section of the ship. With comfy, plush seats the nightly shows entertain the crowd with the resident entertainers, guest comedian and musical acts. Later in the evenings the place to be is the B.B. Kings Blue’s Club, inspired by the music of the famous club in Memphis this talented band play three exciting shows every night.
During the day, apart from the pool, spa and gym guests have lots to keep them busy. Join a cooking lesson on board at the hands-on workshops in America’s Test Kitchen, take a stroll through the art gallery, join one of the daily Digital Workshops, enjoy a fascinating BBC Earth documentary, High Tea in the Vista Dining room or test your general knowledge in a game trivia or test your luck at Bingo!
