Sometimes it’s almost impossible to decide where to go for a holiday. In this age old dilemma there is always a long list of dream destinations to tick off the bucket list.  Should you do a trip that involves drinking good wine and eating good food? Should you instead, take in some snorkelling, whale watching plus stunning scenery? Maybe something a little more exciting like some bungy jumping and adrenaline chasing? Or maybe a trip to explore a foreign culture and soak up some history?  Surprisingly there is one place to combine them all!

It is called Africa and in the case of the four options above they are all found in South Africa.  Even more incredibly they are located in just the one section of coastline of this amazingly diverse country.

Between the cities of Cape Town and Port Elizabeth lies a stretch of road commonly known as “The Garden Route”, a 700km coastal drive that best demonstrates the diversity of both South Africa and Africa, as a whole. It combines the rich history, cultural mix and sophistication of Cape Town together with the simple wonders of the whale migration only metres off the shore near Hermanus.  Then you can choose to test your street cred by throwing yourself into the local art scene or test your courage by throwing yourself off one of the world’s highest bungy jumps.

Exploring The Garden Route on small group tour is a popular choice however, self- drive tours have exploded in popularity for tourists of all ages and driving on the same side of the road as Australia plus similar road conditions makes it a lot easier. With car hire and accommodation organised in advance short daily drives from your new favourite hotel to your next new favourite hotel means the day is left up to you and your whims. All Africa can do is provide the options and the unforgettable memories.

The classic Garden Route from South Africa’s ‘Mother City’ of Cape Town to Port Elizabeth is a wonderful way to experience the highlights on one of the most beautiful stretches of South Africa’s coastline. With pristine beaches, mountains, forests, lakes and rivers, the Garden Route is a place to restore your soul and revitalise your body and mind. Highlights include Cango Caves, Knysna and Birds of Eden, as well as the spectacular Tsitsikamma National Park.

It is the ultimate destination to choose your own adventure!
