Rebecca continues with her Canadian adventure!

Located on Vancouver Island, Victoria is the oldest city in the Pacific Northwest.

Just a 30 minute flight from Vancouver, Victoria boasts stunning natural beauty, rich heritage and a wide variety of activities.

Easily explorable by foot and at your own pace, a visit to Victoria can be as relaxing and rejuvenating as it is educational and exciting.

Gain an insight into Victoria’s past by visiting the legislative buildings, historic homes and castles as well as the fascinating totem poles of the First Nations people.  Take a free guided tour of the historic Parliament Buildings overlooking the inner harbour or head to the water to spot orca whales, go sailing, take a scenic seaplane ride or try your hand at kayaking.

With the mildest climate in Canada, gardens bloom year-round in Victoria.

The meticulously landscaped Butchart Gardens are an absolute must-visit.  Built on a former limestone quarry in the early 1900’s, original owner Jennie Butchart envisioned landscaping a sunken garden in place of the dull quarry, eventually transforming the property into a 55-acre garden oasis for her family and visitors for generations to come.  Today the Butchart Gardens employ 50 full-time gardeners and host one million visitors each year.  Some will spend just a couple of hours exploring these stunning gardens, others will take the whole day. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a fine afternoon tea in the Butchart family’s original residence.

The Fairmont Empress Hotel is Victoria’s most iconic hotel.  Rising regally on the banks of Victoria’s sparkling inner harbour, this world-renowned hotel has been lovingly restored to her former glory. Our two night stay here was a very special treat. Rooms are elegantly appointed with views of the harbour, city or gardens.

Served daily since its opening in 1908, world famous Tea at the Empress is served in the sophisticated Lobby Lounge of the Fairmont Empress Hotel.  A very fancy High Tea experience, visitors are treated to house-made signature Empress scones, pastries, clotted creams and strawberry preserves with fresh lavender from the rooftop herb garden accompanied by a large array of the finest loose-leaf teas available.
